Where Am I? Shop Swap!

I will be heading to Milan 2012

Unfortunately due to prior arrangements I will be unable to travel to Milan in April 2012.

As soon as I can reschedule I will announce the dates I will be visiting.

My first stop will be at my friend Roberto’s shop Primordial Pain http://www.primordialpain.net/  I will be in Milan this means my seat will be available in Alternative Ink. I would love to work in a few different tattoo shops during my stay perhaps we could arrange a ‘Shop Swap’

So if anyone has the space for another tattooist during this time lets meet up, hang out and do some good tattoos.

Anyone interested in a ‘Shop Swap’ contact me via emal:

How to? Look after your new tattoo.

After 2 hours remove the covering and wash your new tattoo in warm soapy water (non perfumed is best but what ever you usually use and know you do not have any allergic reaction to is fine). Pat dry with a towel and apply a thin layer of BEPANTHEN this is a cream designed for use on babies nappy rash and I recommend it to help heal your tattoo as I personally have not seen any allergic reaction from using this as a tattoo healing agent. You do not need to cover your tattoo again but continue to wash and apply Bepanthen at least 4 times a day  this will directly affect the final quality of your tattoo it is imperative that you follow these instructions it only takes on average a week to 10 days to heal so how you look after your tattoo now will affect how it will look for the rest of your life! You have all ready spent enough money getting the tattoo the rest is up to you.

  • After 2 hours remove cover (do not cover again)
  • Wash in warm soapy water
  • Pat dry with a clean towel
  • Apply a thin layer of Bepanthen
  • Repeat this process at least 4 times a day

What Not To Do

Only use Bepanthen for your healing ointment as any other ‘home’ medications can cause irritation and potentially ruin your new tattoo. During healing it is normal for your new tattoo and the area around it to be red and raised feeling somewhat like sunburn. If your tattoo scabs and starts to feel itchy this is also normal DO NOT pick or scratch the scab this will pull out the ink and new healing skin and leave the area open to possible infection. Do not go swimming in the sea ,pool or use a hot tub you do not want to soak your new tattoo in a bath or otherwise (showering as normal is fine). Do not go sunbathing or use tanning salons or use fake tan or other make up on the area you have been tattooed while your tattoo is healing.

  • Do not soak your tattoo (bath/swimming)
  • Do not itch or pick if a scab develops (this is normal)
  • Only use the ointment recommended by your tattooist
  • Keep out of direct sun or sun beds or spray tan
  • Do not directly spray the tattooed area with perfume, deodorants or make up

I personally take a lot of pride in every tattoo I do so please when you get a tattoo give it the best chance of looking good for years to come and look after it during this short healing time.

Tattoos are not cool… Ever.

Well according to a recent article in the Telegraph that is.

And even though the piece is more of a personal rant than a researched and well put together story it does raise the question: What do people think of tattoo’s today?

I myself am biased on this subject being a tattooist loving my job and an avid tattoo collector (while there is space there is time is my attitude) but even with tattoos being so socially acceptable now I still find myself being turned away from some restaurants and clubs because of my tattoos irrespective of what they depict just that I have them even though I can clearly see some wee doll with a tramp stamp on her back already inside and I having almost 2sleeves cant get in, so its not just me its all tattoos? Right hmm.

So even though tattoos have now been granted a spot among the celebrities they still have some stigma attached to them. Oh I feel so ashamed to love my job and keep making everyone so ‘uncool’ NOT! TATTOOS ROCK and anyone who thinks different that’s perfectly fine just keep your small minded views to yourself and stop insulting my and many other peoples job, art, passion, profession!

Or at the least if you must emblazon your views across newspapers get a fully developed story together with other peoples views and opinions. Other wise please kindly GFYS!

(Rant over thanks for reading)

Anyone wishing to read the article click the link I included and see for yourself, some of the comments are pure gold.
